A pepper pot came with fertilizer: decide when to feed again Bed & Balcony · Care observation sheet · 2026-10-25 For the established sweet pepper in the single-pepper pot plan, grown in potting mix. The cited US extension guidance explains container feeding; its example intervals are not a schedule for every product, climate or reservoir system. OBSERVATIONS Pepper pot label, growth stage and planting date: ____________________________________________________________ Mix product, initial charge and stated feeding period: ____________________________________________________________ All later fertilizer names, dates and amounts: ____________________________________________________________ Applicable label directions and measurement units: ____________________________________________________________ Actual application or reason for holding it: ____________________________________________________________ Next visit: new growth, moisture and next eligible feeding: ____________________________________________________________ CHECKS If the mix label or planting record identifies a fertilizer already added: Write down its type, planting date and stated feeding period. Compare those with the proposed supplement's instructions before adding anything. A calendar reminder alone does not establish that the original supply has run out. If the initial charge is accounted for and the product provides applicable repeat-feeding directions: Use those directions to choose the next eligible application and amount. Check whether the instructions use pot size, growing-mix volume or dilution volume; these are different measurements. Record which one you used. If the history is unknown, or pale leaves are the only reason for feeding: Recover the label or ask the manufacturer about the initial charge first. Check moisture below the surface, drainage and light while resolving the feeding history. Yellowing and slow growth can have causes other than a nutrient shortage. ACTION CHECKLIST [ ] 1. Put the two labels beside the pot record Photograph the potting-mix label and the fertilizer directions. List every known application, including nursery or planting additions. Mark missing information instead of filling the gap with an assumed dose. [ ] 2. Prepare the label's actual measurement When another feeding is supported, copy its container-crop directions onto the sheet. Measure the required pot or water volume and the product amount with the appropriate measure. Keep the product name and units attached to that number. [ ] 3. Make and record one matching application Apply by the stated method, including any moisture or watering-in instruction. Keep dry granules off leaves and rinse off spills. Record what actually went into this pot before setting the next label-based reminder. NEXT CHECK At the next care visit, compare new growth and moisture with today's record and look for new injury. Old damaged leaves need not recover. Reconcile the actual application with the label before the next feeding; seek local advice if decline continues despite suitable moisture and light.
